Building on the Success of Gene George Earle, Joanne Masding and Rebecca Bibby’s show in 2010, Eastside Projects is offering ESP members the opportunity to make an exhibition for the second gallery to open on 9 March 2012.
This is a significant chance to be part of the gallery programme and proposals are sought for solo exhibitions, two or three person shows or curated projects. The budget available for the exhibition is £1500 and the selected member/s will be supported as they develop their project by Gavin Wade and other gallery staff through a series of meetings and studio visits.
Please note this opportunity is only open to ESP members.

The Chicago based visual and performance-theatre artist and educator William Pope.L will discuss the processes of development of ‘Child’ 2011, his new video commission for Eastside Projects, which will the centrepiece of his solo exhibition in September.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH #2
On the last Wednesday of each month, VIVID hosts The Neighbourhood Watch, an open submission film night devised and developed by The Neighbourhood.
With a ‘Neighbourhood Watch under their belts, riotous applause and praise from contributors and visitors alike, and time spent discussing how they can make the next one even better, The Neighbourhood Watch returns to VIVID on Wednesday 27 July 2011, 7pm.
Unlike most screening nights The Neighbourhood will accept films completely blind. They’ve formulated a set of submission guidelines to give the night a little structure however given their love for bending and breaking rules, stress that these are but guidelines. Click here to view.

With their SONICpicnic hamper almost packed, SOUNDkitchen have some tasty treats in store including their famous signature dish STONEsoup which combines the work of Birmingham composers and sound artists with film by Ross Millar. SONICpicnic also plays host to the UK premiere screening of Modulate‘s new work White, a delicate study in audio responsive movement, light and dark.
What’s more, ChangeKitchen will be dishing up delicious food to eat alongside the sonic feast. Leave the office, bin the sandwich and join SOUNDkitchen at VIVID for homecooked nosh and great entertainment!

Mellors, who is currently exhibiting as part of Narrative Show, has produced a distinctive body of work that combines video, sculpture and writing. The complex relationship between language and power is a recurring theme in his multifaceted work, typically manifesting itself in absurdist, humorous narratives which reveal a penchant for satire and the grotesque. Recent shows include ‘Altermodern’, Tate Britain, ‘Ourhouse’, ICA and British Art Show 6’. £4/£2 concs/free for ESP members
